The Stamford Hospital, has an immediate part time job opening for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for its phase II & III outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program at The Tully Health Center.

Work schedule will be Monday's & Wednesday's from 8:
00 am to 12:00 noon. The candidate should have experience with patient assessment, exercise prescription, patient education and supervision of cardiac patients. Excellent communication and social skills are essential. A Master's degree in Exercise Science and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification are preferred. Position will require current BLS certification.

* Implements/Documents Exercise Program - Implements prescribed exercise program and modifies program as necessary, updating goals and re-evaluating exercise program throughout the course of treatment.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of exercise techniques and applies appropriately.Monitors pre and post pulse oximetry, blood pressure, dyspnea levels, weight and heart rate, including target heart rate on equipment ratings of perceived exertion along with exercising MET levels.Instructs patients on proper use of all exercise equipment as well as stretching exercises warm ups and cool downs.Maintains awareness of signs and symptoms of pulmonary/cardiac distress and acts accordingly.

Understands and demonstrates ability to change oxygen tank regulators ensuring both patient safety and maximum utilization of tanks.Documents all events in patients chart and on exercise card.

* Education Attends/participates in weekly team meetings with staff and medical director. Responsible for class instruction twice a month on Exercise Guidelines and Therapeutic Exercises. Instruct participants in safe use of fitness equipment. Develops/recommends home exercise plan and/or other continuing exercise program to each participant upon discharge from either Pulmonary Rehab/Fitness. Provides additional education to staff, system employees and the community as requested. Assumes personal responsibility for continuing education and professional development.

* Shared Responsibilities Assumes shared responsibility for maintenance of treatment areas and equipment, including oxygen tanks/regulators. Reports equipment problems immediately, removing from service any equipment that may be faulty. Completes exercise portion of medical record.

Required Experience

Graduate of an accredited curriculum with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science.

Completion of AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS) is mandatory
